Who Am I? 

 

This man was a conqueror from the mighty Rome 

He bought treasure and glory back to his home 

This man spread art and science to the ancient world 

As the empire of Rome spread and unfurled 

 

He was born in a time of a civil war 

He united Rome, was popular with the poor 

A famous commander to this day,  

Countries that menaced Rome were to pay 

 

Travelling around the world, he came, he saw 

Conquering Gaul, England and many countries more 

With him came science and technology 

Brought inventions and ideas to every country 

 

He was made consul in 44 BC 

Romans loved him, the choice was easy 

But the senators were scared of his ambition 

Thus assassinating him became their mission 

 

The man was soon stabbed 23 times 

The senators themselves committing the crimes 

His famous last words 'Et tu Brute?' 

And soon his body was left out to decay 

 

If you haven't figured who this is, you're an old geezer 

The man I write about is Julius Caesar!
